JAMPRO /FINPYME
Jamaica Promotions Corporation (JAMPRO), the trade & investment promotions agency of the Government of Jamaica, operating under the Ministry of Industry, Commerce, Agriculture & Fisheries (MICAF) in conjunction with the Inter-American Investment Corporation (IIC) & the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) required independent consultants to provide specialised technical assistance to each of the following ITA Recipients. Charlene was successful in giving technical assistance to 2 of the 5 ITA Recipients.
The FINPYME ExportPlus Programme is an initiative of the Inter-American Investment Corporation that is in line with the World Trade Organization’s Aid-For-Trade Initiative. Undertaken collaboratively with its parent organization – the Inter-American Development Bank – the FINPYME ExportPlus Programme seeks to improve the ability of the ITA Recipient to access export markets. The FINPYME ExportPlus Programme is being implemented by the Jamaica Promotions Corporation (JAMPRO) under the National Export Strategy (NES).
Under the FINPYME Export Plus Programme Individual Technical Assistance is being offered to five companies.The proposed activities for this aspect of the FINPYME ExportPlus Programme have a core focus of providing specialised technical assistance to select ITA Recipient who would have demonstrated a clear need for specific interventions that will build capacity & promote export competitiveness for their export business.
JNBS FOUNDATION/USAID
Jamaica National Foundation (JNBSF) is the philanthropic arm of the Jamaica National Group, which includes Jamaica National Building Society. Charlene was commissioned to provide business development support to the pilot social enterprise participating in the Social Enterprise Boost Initiative (SEBI), as funded by USAID.
The Foundation is a non-profit organization whose vision is to empower & regenerate rural communities throughout Jamaica. JNBSF recently received support from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) to develop & implement a 3 year program the Social Enterprise Boost Initiative. Aiming to mobilize increased employment, investment & revenue within communities in a socially responsible manner, & in so doing improve the nation’s economic, social & environmental conditions.
The Social Enterprise Boost Initiative will be targeting businesses & individuals who are directly involved in the production and/or selling of goods or services for the combined purpose of generating income & achieving social, cultural or environmental goals.
